Haverhill, MA 2nd Alarm - 11 Woodrow Ave. - 5/5/15
As crews were mopping up and clearing a quick Working Fire on Pilling St, calls began to come in reporting a house fire on Woodrow Ave.
While some companies were delayed in responding, the first due units called off at the scene with heavy fire showing from the rear of a 2.5 story wood frame house. A second alarm was ordered immediately, bringing in additional help from surrounding communities including Methuen and Lawrence.
The fire quickly took control of the house and an exterior attack on the fire began. Firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the fire under control.
It was reported that the homeowner had left his home shortly before the fire began. He had put his 2 dogs out on the rear porch, near the area where the fire started. As of now, I personally do not know whether the animals were saved or not.
