South Hampton, NH W/F+ - 128 Hilldale Ave. - 11/30/15
Companies from South Hampton NH and surrounding communities, including Amesbury MA were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of 128 Hilldale Ave. The fire was reported by a neighbor who could see flames coming from a house next door.
Amesbury Engine 1 arrived first on scene and reported a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling well involved on the 2nd floor and cockloft. Where there was no life hazard and the structure being in a run down condition, the OIC chose to go into a defensive operation right from the start.
Several tankers from surrounding communities were requested to the scene to assist in establishing a water supply to this rural location with no hydrants in the immediate area. The structure was a total loss as it collapsed on itself fairly early on into the fire. Lines were stretched and operated around the rubble pile to keep the fire from spreading.
This, for me, was a more difficult fire to shoot. The sun angle (of which there wasnt much except right when I got there), the overgrown brush surrounding the home and a lack of ability to get shot from any side but the A side made it a "not so typical" fire to shoot. Lots of faces and wetting down but these guys all worked hard to keep the fire contained to the building of origin.
