Goffstown, NH 3rd Alarm - 711 Mast Rd. - 2/21/16
Goffstown firefighters were dispatched in the early afternoon to a reported building fire in the area of 711 Mast Rd. The report was for heavy smoke coming from an unoccupied commercial structure. A second alarm was struck enroute and fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a large 1.5-2 story equivilant commercial building.
Companies took a defensive posture right off the bat with a large volume of fire sweeping thru the building and burning thru the roof. The fire took total control of the structure and strong wind gusts started carrying burning embers into the area neighborhood. One business, on the next block over, did sustain minor damage to its roof as a burning ember did burn thru its rubber roof but did not extend in. The crew from Londonderry Engine 3 took a water can to it and had it under control within minutes.
As for the main fire building, it took crews a few hours to douce the flames and the building is a total loss. Considering the heavy volume of fire, the business on the D side exposure only suffered cosmetic damage to the exterior siding due to Manchester Fire Engine 6 and Truck 3 setting up quickly to protect from any further damage.
I arrived at the tail end of the heaviest fire conditions as I had a 40 minute drive to the fire. Most of the photos are of the continued surround and drown operation.
