Haverhill, Ma W/F+ - 57 South Central St - 3/15/16
Early Tuesday afternoon, March 15, Haverhill Fire Alarm recieved a phone call reporting a house fire at 57 S Central St. Companies were dispatched under the command of Deputy Tarpy, who arrived within minutes and reported heavy smoke showing from a large 2.5 story woodframe dwelling. He requested the working fire assignment and the City's "Village rigs" Engines 8 and 9, staffed by volunteers were activated.
Companies attempted an aggressive interior attack but the fire had taken full control of the finished 3rd floor attic area. With several lines run and a ladder pipe off Haverhill Ladder 4, firefighters took a defensive posture with heavy fire eventually burning thru the roof from front to back. The fire was brought under control in about an hours time.
Lawrence Engine 7 assisted Haverhill firefighters at the scene while other area departments including Methuen, Groveland and Salem NH provided station coverage at the Water St fire station.
