Lowell, MA 2nd Alarm - IAO 725 Lawrence St - 9/27/16
Lowell firefighters from the Lawrence St firehouse housing Engine 11 and Ladder 1 were alerted by a passerby to the station of a house fire just a few doors down. Crews observed heavy smoke coming from the red "X" posted building from quarters and requested fire alarm send the rest of the first alarm assignment.
Being only 4-5 houses down and across the street, crews arrived within seconds to find an outside fire that had extended to the rear of the structure. Heavy fire conditions had taken over the rear of the vacant building and due to it being a posted structure, no interior firefight was made. A second alarm was requested bringing additional manpower to the scene and firefighters had the heaviest fire knocked down within 15-20 minutes with only a couple lines run. The building will now reportedly be torn down.
I arrived after an extended ETA to nothing much showing so most of these photos are of the Lowell Fire members working to mop up after the fire was extinguished.
