North Reading, MA 2nd Alarm Brush Fire - End of Locust St off Linwood St - 4/21/16
After recieving a call that 80 pallets were on fire in the back yard, North Readiong Fire transmitted the box alarm for the end of Locust St off Linwood St near the Wilmington line.
En-route, Captain Rick Nash requested a Wilmington engine direct to the fire for assistance. On arrival, firefighters found that while there wasn't 80 pallets on fire, an outside fire had quickly spread in multiple directions in a heavily wooded area.
After initially having trouble finding and establishing a water supply, Wilmington E3 was able to run a supply line into North Reading E2 to feed multiple lines that were deployed. Seeing that the fire was growing in size and the need for more manpower, additional engine companies from Reading and Middleton were requested with a 2nd alarm requested for station coverage.
Firefighters were able to get their lines in place to surround the fire and knock it down before it burned out into and past the high tension power lines near the head of the fire line.
