Portland, CT W/F - 1931 Portland Cobalt Rd - 6/28/17
Was "in the area" for the CT Fire Photographers annual picnic in Manchester, CT when Portland sent out an alarm for an outside fire in close proximity to a structure. The location given was the Saint Clement's Castle, a function venue alongside the Connecticut River in Portland.
Upon arrival, crews had smoke and fire showing from a 1.5 story masonry and wood function hall and requested a working fire assignment. Crews did go defensive with multiple requests for tankers from area fire departments. Not being familiar with where this is, I couldnt tell you from where they came. It took crews about 45 minutes to an hour to bring under control.
A wedding reception was going on at the time of the fire and all guests were able to safely evacuate the structure without injury. A cause is still under investigation.
