Billerica, MA 2nd Alarm - 845 Boston Rd - 8/28/16
Billerica firefighters fought this house fire late Sunday afternoon August 28th 2016.
Neighbors alerted authorities of smoke coming from the rear of the house and when fire crews arrived, they confirmed smoke coming from a 1.5 story wood frame dwelling. It was quickly determined that the house was vacant as word came down the homeowners were away in Maine. Securing an adequate water supply took a few minutes and firefighters entered to find heavy fire on floor 2. A second alarm was requested bringing in additional manpower from remaining BFD companies as well as an Engine from nearby Burlington. Crews ran 2 lines into the front door and once water had been secured, they knocked down the heaviest fire in short order.
Firefighters remained on scene well after the fire was knocked down to check for extension, wet down hot spots and overhaul.
Overall a great stop by Billerica Fire personnel who worked quickly to try and keep damage to a minimum.
