Tewksbury, MA 2nd Alarm - 2 Woodland Dr - 3/29/17
Tewksbury firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire on Woodland Dr late on Wednesday night March 29th.
The poilce arrived first to find a 1.5 story home with a larger 2.5 story addition well involved in fire. Fire crews arrived and struck a 2nd alarm right away. It was determioned early on that the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and crews took a defensive posture right away to knock the fire down. The 1.5 story part of the home was fully involved with the fire having extended rapidly into the 2nd floor and attic of the 2.5 story portion of the home. Multiple lines were stretched around the outside along with an aerial master stream off Ladder 1. Mutual aid engines from Billerica and Andover assited Tewkbury fire crews at the scene in extiguishing the fire, which took about an hour to do with crews remaining on scene to wet down hot spots and overhaul.
Of note on this fire is the fact that the homeowner had rented the property out and evicted those tenents earlier that day. While I cant say for sure that they or anyone had anything to do with this fire, I can only speculate that the fire might be suspicious purely based on the heavy fire condition on the arrival of both Poilce and Fire personnel.
