Worcester, MA 3rd Alarm - 16 Henry St - 2/14-16
Worcester firefighters, having already fought a 2 alarm fire not long before this, were sent to 16 Henry St for a reported house fire.
Companies arrived to a 40x20 2.5 story wood frame multi dwelling with heavy fire showing. A second alarm was immediately requested as crews tried to make an aggressive interior attack. Firefighters encountered a large volume of fire on floor 2 that was extending into the attic. Due to the heavy fire conditions, crews were forced out of the building and took up a defensive posture on the building with 2 ladder pipes and several big lines in operation.
It took about an hour to bring the fire under control. Weather conditions at the time of the fire were clear sky's but near sub zero temperatures, so ice was a major issue throughout the fireground.
You'll notice some of the later pics have a water spot or two on them due to my lenses getting "cleaned" with overspray. I did the best I could to clear it on the fly but due to the temperatures, my equipment had a layer of ice on it that I couldn't thaw until I left. I'm including them anyways when I normally wouldn't.
