Lawrence, MA 3rd Alarm
8 Diamond St - Saunders Crossing Apartments
September 16, 2018
As if a weekend of explosions, fires and constant running wasn't enough, firefighters received a report of alarms sounding at 8 Diamond St, an apartment building, with a possible fire on floor 2. On arrival firefighters found an active fire in Apt 18 and immediately started running lines. The fire extended to apartments both beside and above the original fire apartment prompting additional alarms to be struck.
With the ongoing gas incident, multiple mutual aid task forces of engines, ladders and Chief officers were on standby to respond to emergencies as needed. Fire crews from as far away as Franklin, Medfield, Wrentham, Westwood and Norwood (amongst others), responded alongside Lawrence firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
Though initially thought to may have been a gas related call, it was quickly determined that a malfunctioning electrical appliance, turned on when the power was restored earlier that morning, was the cause of the fire.
