Late night Thursday December 30th into early morning December 31st 2021
Response: Engines 9/8/6/7, Ladders 4/5, Squad 1, C21 Deputy McInnis, C20 Chief Moriarty and the FIU. Engines 9, 8, 6, Ladder 4, Squad 1 and C21 dispatched to 96-98 Abbott St (updated addresses of 107 & 109/111 Abbott made after arrival) at 22:45 for a reported structure fire from a resident. Engine 9 reported heavy fire showing from a dwelling on their arrival with C21, Deputy John McInnis requesting a 2nd alarm on his arrival shortly thereafter. His subsequent report was fire in 2 dwellings, one being a 2.5sty vacant and the other a 3sty occupied. A defensive posture was taken on the main fire building as it was well involved on all floors and an offensive posture on the exposure building with big lines. With firefighters rapidly deploying lines and the exposure having asbestos siding underneath the vinyl, the 3sty exposure was saved aside from significant damage to the D side walls siding. The heaviest of the visible fire was knocked down within 20-30 minutes with the fire taking about an hour to bring under control. Companies continued opening up thereafter with a rotating fire watch remaining on scene for the night after companies cleared.
