Lawrence, MA 2nd Alarm - 29 State St - 12/8/16
Late Thursday evening Decmeber 8th 2016, Lawrence Police, busy with 2 shooting victims at LGH, recieved calls for a building fire on State St IAO 29 at the corner of Chester St. While enroute Lawrence Fire Alarm sent out box 6111 for the same address with an initial response of Engines 5, 6, 9, Ladder 4, Rescue 1 and Deputy Meaney in C21.
Ladder 4 arrived to find heavy fire showing from the "B" side of the building and reported a working fire. As the rest of the companies began arriving, Deputy Meaney requested a 2nd alarm which brought Engine 9, Ladder 5 and Engines from Andover and Methuen. Firefighters immediately ran a 2.5" big line off E9 and had the heaviest of the fire knocked down within a few minutes. Additional lines were run to various points around the 2 sty unoccupied dwelling and crews went to work with an extensive amount of overhaul and wetting down.
Mutual aid coverage was brought in from Haverhill and Lowell amongst a few others. The fire, being knocked down in reletively short order allowed Lawrence companies to clear the scene within 2 hours with a fire watch remaining on scene.
I arrived, living close to the line, within 10 minutes of the police getting the call. I could see it on the way in but by the time I actually made the scene, the fire was knocked down. Thats how fast this was brought under control. A lot of photos will appear the same but I assure you, while there may be a few within a sequence of overhaul, they are all different.
