Lawrence, MA - 7th Alarm Equiv - Market, Parker & Sprinfield St Block - 1/21/08
Box 6111 was struck after a Patriot Ambulance crew onsighted a building fire at a former nightclub under renovation. That building burned to the ground before firefighters even arrived. Companies arrived on scene to find a heavy volume of fire spreading to exposure buildings assisted by a very cold and whipping wind. Additional alarms were struck as the wind swept fire proceeded to spread to multiple structures including houses, a large apartment building with a store on floor 1, garages and sheds which were located in a small alley running behind the buildings. Crews had difficulty getting water to the scene and as a result, multiple engine companies were requested to set up a water relay from blocks away. All told, 17 structures burned thoughout the night before the fire was brought under control. These guys made an INCREDIBLE stand in stopping this fire from further advancement. Job well done.
I had a particularly hard time photographing this job as I had broken my flash 2 days before and hadnt got my new one yet. So if the lighting is low, photos have a red hew or the fire volume just takes over the picture, thats why. Had to leave the shutter open a little longer than I would have but overall, Im happy with the results.
