Lawrence, MA W/F+ - IAO 110 Glenn St - 7/12/14
Box 7177 was sent out for a reported fire in the area of 155 Shepard St. Engines 5, 6 and 9, Ladder 4, Rescue 1 and Car 21, Deputy McInnis were dispatched to the location.
Initially, Engine 9, first to arrive, had nothing showing at the given address, but after a followup call, companies went around the corner onto Glenn St to investigate. Engine 9 arrived and requested a working fire with a request by the Deputy for Ladder 5 to respond shortly thereafter.
Companies encountered a heavy fire condition in several carts of clothing etc at Aramark Corp's Uniform Services facility at 110 Glenn St. The fire had already spred to a commercial stepvan, which was completely destroyed and to the trailer portion of 1 of 2 18 wheel tractor trailers which were exposed to the flames. Firefighters stretched several lines and knocked down the fire in short order. Additional manpower entered the 1 story commercial facility to check for extension in which none was found, though the building had a significant smoke condition inside due to the fire. There was some minor damage to the exterior facade of the loading dock area, which was also knocked down quickly.
Units remained on scene for another hour to wet down the carts of clothing as well as other damaged areas. A cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
