USS Constitution turnaround & 21 gun salute - 10/2017

On Friday October 20th 2017, Boston Fire’s Marine 1, the “John S. Damrell” took part in escorting the USS Constitution out to South Boston. The Damrell along with Massport Fire’s “American United” both accompanied the iconic warship from the Charlestown Navy Yard to Fort Independence on Castle Island with a full water cannon display. The day commemorated not only the 242nd birthday of the US Navy and the 220th anniversary of the Constitution’s launch but also the first time “Old Ironsides” had sailed in 3 years after undergoing a major restoration.
